BOSS Great Wall – One of the Biggest Structures in the Universe! 🌌
In 2016, scientists discovered something huge — a massive structure called the BOSS Great Wall, made up of 830 galaxies spread across an area more than 1 billion light-years wide! 😳
This giant wall of galaxies was found using data from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) — part of a large project to map the structure of the universe. That’s why it’s named the “BOSS” Great Wall.
It's not a wall like we see on Earth — it's a cosmic superstructure made of galaxy clusters, superclusters, dark matter, and gas. Imagine thousands of galaxies all linked together by gravity, forming a giant “web” in space.
For comparison, our own Milky Way Galaxy is just one galaxy, while this structure contains hundreds of them. It’s even bigger than other famous cosmic giants like the Sloan Great Wall or the Hercules–Corona Borealis Great Wall.
Scientists were shocked by its size because according to current theories, the universe shouldn't have structures this large — it might even break the rules of how we think the universe formed after the Big Bang.
In short, the BOSS Great Wall reminds us how little we truly know about the size and power of the cosmos.
