Turkey’s SolidAERO has developed TALAY, an AI-powered maritime kamikaze drone that revives Cold War–era wing-in-ground effect technology for modern sea-skimming warfare.
The compact, foldable-wing UAV is designed for maritime and coastal missions including kamikaze strikes, surveillance, and reconnaissance. It flies just 3 meters (9.8 feet) above the water — and can drop to 30 centimeters (1 foot) to avoid radar detection.
TALAY can reach speeds of 124 mph (200 km/h), operate for up to three hours, and carry 66 pounds (30 kg) of sensors or munitions.
Its electric engine and AI-assisted flight control allow autonomous missions such as patrol, harbor attacks, or precision strikes, even in rough seas.
